Healthy Diet Tips for Spring and Beyond

As warmer weather approaches we can look forward to wearing lighter clothing and sandals.

 But as we peel off the heavier clothing, anticipating wearing bikinis and thongs, have we discovered that there may be a heavy layer that we just can't peel off so easily--in the form of fat on our bodies ?
 How can this be ?
We certainly don't remember adding these extra layers over the winter months.

 Some of us may still be carrying some pounds from our holiday celebrations.
We must think quick as hot weather is approaching and we want to expose ourselves to the world--in our best form ,of course. What to do, what to do?

Don't panic. Let's think healthy for a change and give our blessed bodies a break and start living healthy.Take some diet tips from the other articles in this blog and add these tips to them.

If you need real incentive, go purchase your favorite bikini or thong. Or even a piece of intimate lingerie, something that you'd like to be able to wear, but just can't quite get into it yet. Be reasonable tho, if you have a lot of weight to lose, you must realize that you may not be quite ready for this summer season. But if you give yourself a chance, next summer could be your year. Set your goals,encourage yourself and be kind to yourself.


Spring is the time for new beginnings and there's no time like the present to begin a healthy eating plan. Re-energize yourself and plan improvements in your life.


Become a gardener. It's great exercise and you're outside enjoying the sun and fresh air. Get that body moving! You'll appreciate growing some of your own food.
 Start with salad greens, then you can make a simple salad with a little olive oil and vinegar. What a treat !


Have you ever done a spring cleanse? We spring clean our homes so why shouldn't we cleanse our bodies inside and out ?
 Avoid excesses in foods and alcohol. Give your liver a break. Try two weeks without sugar or caffeine. Perhaps this is the time to stop smoking.


Definitely AVOID unhealthy foods--fried oils, all hydrogenated fats.

Become a label reader when you're buying your groceries. If you can't pronounce what's on the label or you don't know what it is, then don't buy it. It's not real food.
Make a strong effort to only consume real whole food. Just because our mega grocery stores are filled with aisles of boxes of food, does not mean that it's all good to eat.

Consume only healthy fats found in olive oil, fish, seeds and nuts. Take nutritional supplements. Start building up your immune system. You'll feel better.

Turn off the TV and get outside for exercise.Stretch and tone your body using weights. This will give you strength and help your bones.

As you renew your body,remember to renew all the aspects of your life. Start by giving things away. Have a garage sale--one man's trash is another man's treasure--get rid or clothes that you haven't worn in awhile. Anyway, once you lose weight you'll need a new wardrobe !

Clean your attic,basement, garage--get rid of clutter and while you're doing all this cleaning you're burning calories and keeping your hands free of snacks !


Never let yourself become to old to play--Take time to be outdoors and breathe in life.
Get that mental picture of the new and improved you.
 Remember, that anything worth having must be worked for--so get up off the couch, make that life changing decision and enjoy that new body. It really is there, you just might have to look a little harder for it.

Learn These Diet Tips for a Smaller You !

Are there really any new Diet Tips ?


Well, probably not. We've heard it all before, but our lives are so busy today that some times we just don't pay attention.That's why repetition is so important. So, if you think this is all a big yawn and you've heard it all before, take a few minutes and read thru these ideas. Maybe, you'll find an idea or two that you can put into practice in your daily life that might help you to drop a few pounds. Let's get to it, shall we ?


Did you receive a huge box of chocolates for Valentines Day ? Or perhaps you over indulged in a special dinner out with your loved one. The problem with holidays is that we always mark them with lots of food, drinks and sweets. Then we pay the price days and weeks later as we strive to take off what we indulged in.


One of our biggest problems today is that our portions are completely out of control. Every where you go, you're offered a Super Size portion of food or drinks.Try ordering smaller portions of food and cut out sweet,sugary drinks. Try water with lemon or club soda with lime. Both are very refreshing and aid in digestion.

Make a point to not eat late,because unless you're planning to dance the night away, going to bed with a full stomach just packs on the pounds and is hard for your body to digest. That alone will keep you awake !

If you have a treadmill, rowing machine or any exercise equipment that you can use during your favorite TV time, use it ! Make that time count and you won't be tempted to snack away. Sometimes, you can eat a bag of chips during one thirty minute program and not even realize what you're eating. Somehow TV snacking just goes down so easy. Try lifting weights--keep your hands busy and out of the chip bag !

On weekends play with your kids--ride bikes together, play basketball, jump rope.
 Many hotels/motels have memberships to their pool areas--join if they have an indoor facility so you can swim all year long. Who wouldn't love that ?

Riding horses is great fun and exercise, but can be pricey if you don't own your own horse and equipment, but it might be worth looking into.

 Golf is another great sport and great exercise if you walk the course and carry your own bag. Maybe one of your kids could be your caddy and perhaps learn something about golf at the same time.
These are all great family activities for quality family time. As you are building a better family relationship, you are also building a better, stronger body and controlling your weight, while you're having fun.


If you spend some of your weekend at the mall,make sure to park farther away from the entrance. The extra walking will do you good. But, do make sure to park your car in a well lighted area after dark for safety.

Depending on the weather where you live, you can cut grass, pull weeds, rake leaves, wash the car, shovel snow and always walk the dog.
All of these activities keep the body moving and off the couch which we know is a must for weight control and using and losing calories.

Choose what you like to do so you'll stick with it. And yes, doing yard work and gardening can be fun ! The level of physical activity and the amount of food you eat will play a major role in your weight loss results.


If you are 20 pounds or more overweight and you really need incentive to lose weight, try this:

Get a full length mirror, place it beside your toilet. Strip completely naked and sit on the toilet. Now, that's a picture that you probably would not want to share with anyone.
 But, burn that image in your mind and when you're tempted to over eat or slack off exercising, think about it.

And More Diet Tips

With the New Year maybe you'd like to have a new body. Well, that's not impossible and it's very doable if you just follow some health tips.


Common sense plays a major role in all we do and eating healthy is no exception.
So a couple of things to keep in mind when you are dining out are:


Instead of having a main entree, have a couple of appetizers instead. You can ask the wait person to bring them at different intervals so that you are eating something while every one else is having their main meal. That way you don't feel awkward or left out. Appetizer portions tend to be smaller and that's a good thing.


Have a dinner salad with oil and vinegar, instead of the heavy, creamy salad dressings. You can always order two dinner salads.


Don't eat the bread that is usually brought to the table. Keep it out of your reach or have it removed from the table after everyone else gets their share. They can always ask for more.


Drink an 8 ounce glass of water with lemon before your meal. This will fill you up and the lemon aids in digestion.


Of course, don't order desert.


It's really best not to eat after 6 pm, but most people have a hard time scheduling a dinner date at that hour. So try to keep your portions under control, because unless you're doing something very strenuous, like dancing , you'll not be able to digest your dinner before going to bed.
That's where alot of pounds are put on--eating late and going to bed with a full stomach. Also, it's very hard for your body to digest a heavy meal as you are trying to sleep, so that will probably keep you awake.


These tips are not new. Sometimes we just have to be told again.


Consider these diet tips and see how they can fit into your life. These changes are easily done and painless, but they can make a big difference in your health and appearance.


Give them a try. Keep a private little journal to record your dining experience.
Soon, these diet tips will become a normal part of your life. You will find them easy to do and natural. You will not feel like you are missing anything.

More Diet Tips



Well, here we are at the  beginning of a New Year and did you make resolutions about your weight ? Have you finally decided to start eating healthy ?

Resolve to treat your body better beginning now, by being careful about what you eat.

Don't eat anything un natural.

If it's been altered with chemicals and additives, don't eat it.

Resolve to read all food labels.

Cut back on fast food and drive thrus. Most supermarkets today have salad bars and delis that offer healthier choices. There's also some wonderful, organic bottled juices in most of the produce sections. So, if you're really hungry one of these choices is better than greasy, fast food.

Don't eat your meals standing at the kitchen sink. Even if you're alone, make a point to sit down and enjoy your food.

Chew your food, don't gulp. Don't swallow everything whole. You could literally choke to death.

Make a point to eat more fresh fruit and vegetables daily. Preferably organic. If you can't get organic, try to wash everything thoroughly.Remember, everything is grown with pesticides and herbicides.

It's past time for all of us to start taking better care of our health. So many people are lacking health insurance these days and with the high cost of medical care and medicines, it would be beneficial for us all to pay more attention to our health. There's no better way to do that than thru diet and exercise.

Now is the time to start with a new diet plan for yourself.

If you need incentive to protect your health, go by your local hospital and watch some of the patients as they come and go. So many illnesses could be avoided if people would just take better care of their nutrition.

Start today.

Remember, we truly are what we eat.

7 Diet Tips

We all know that we should eat healthier.
So, what else is new ? Well, here I am with some common sense, every day diet tips to help you eat better. Just what the world needs, right ?

There's nothing new here--in fact, you've "heard" this most of your eating life, but have you really listened ? The thinking here is that maybe if you see this in print one more time you'll get clued in.
These 7 Diet Tips are so easy any one can do this. It's painless.
Just try following these 7 Diet Tips for a month and see if you don't feel better. You will establish new eating habits. Old habits are hard to break and in our fast paced life styles, trying to establish better eating habits is not number one on our priority list.
So, let's get to it. The sooner you read over this list, the sooner you can begin making healthier eating choices.

#1-Never eat on the run. It's best to skip the drive-thru. Yes, it's fast, but gulping your food between red lights is not good. Make a point to take your time enjoying your meal.
#2-Gulping your food down because you're in a rush does not aid in good digestion. It's very important that you chew your food thoroughly.
#3-Begin your day with a good breakfast, have a hearty lunch and then enjoy a lighter evening meal.
#4-This is very important--Do not over eat at night. Especially 2 or 3 hours before your normal bedtime.It's very difficult for your body to digest your food after going to bed with a full stomach. That also affects your sleep--it will keep you awake. So, keep it light at night !
#5-You should drink at least 6 glasses of water daily. This will give you a full feeling, helping to prevent over eating at meal times and water flushes out impurities in our bodies. Don't drink alot of water at meal times tho, as it affects digestion.
#6-Of course, you want to avoid fried foods, refined and processed foods, sugar,salt;foods with chemicals and additives are not really food. If you can't pronounce it or you don't know what it is, then DON'T EAT IT !!
#7-You might try cutting back on caffeine,nicotine,alcohol use and sugar just to see what a difference it will make to you.
#8-Try walking more. This is not a new idea, but if you are able, take a walk after your meals.
#9-Read up on vitamins and supplements. Become informed and then make a decision on what's right for you. Go to a health food store and become acquainted with the vitamin and supplement aisle. There's always free, printed information that you can take home to read.
#10-Make a point to eat more fresh fruit and vegetables.
These ideas are all very doable and easy. Treat yourself better. Your body will thank you for it.
